2010
Le Mans Series ~ Round 2, Spa Francorchamps
The
second round of the 2010 Le Mans Series sees
the championship returning to the famous Spa
Francorchamps circuit in Belgium - one of
the oldest and still most challenging racing
circuits in the world. For RML the track has
been the site of some tremendous highs, as
well as several disappointments. The last
two Spa 1000 Kilometres have been marked by
engine problems; a blown turbo (but 6th place)
in 2008, and then early retirement in 2009,
but in 2007 the team's MG Lola EX265 laid
claim to a place in the history books when
Mike Newton and Thomas Erdos finished third
overall - the first time in Europe that an
LMP2 runner had finished on the overall podium.
Fresh from an encouraging Dunlop tyre test
at the Hungaroring in late April, and with
a podium in Round 1 already tucked under their
belts, the team heads for Belgium in a very
positive frame of mind.
