Le Mans Series ~ Round 4, Algarve, Portugal
With
podiums in Round 1 and 2 of the 2010 Le
Mans Series, and a third place in the Le
Mans 24 Hours in June, RML's Mike Newton,
Tommy Erdos and new "third driver" Ben
Collins headed south to the Algarve
in Portugal for the team's fourth race
of the year. Leading LMP2 in the contest
for the 2010 title, they moved from one
of the classic European circuits to one
of the very newest. The Autódromo
Internacional do Algarve is widely
regarded as among the best tracks in the
world - and it certainly will be, if they
could only sort out the jaw-breaking
bumps along the main straight! As it
was in 2009, the 1000 Kilometres do Algarve
was a "night
race", starting in the late afternoon,
and going on to finish in the dark. When
the chequered flag dropped, the RML AD
Group Lola HPD was leading LMP2 . . . .
