Le Mans Series ~ Round 3, Imola
The
psychological "mountain" that
stands high in the middle of every sportscar
season was passed, with June's Le Mans
24 Hours seeing victory for Audi and a
hard-fought fourth place in LMP2 for RML
AD Group. Any thought of a respite, however,
or a "downhill from now
on" attitude,
was immediately dispelled in Italy by
Round 3 of the 2011 Le Mans Series
from Imola. This event also doubled as the third race in the 2011 Intercontinental
Le Mans Cup. That meant a packed grid,
including all the main Le Mans protagonists,
and intense competition as the battle for
for titles began to hot up. Mike, Tommy, Ben and
the RML crew were looking to improve
the competitiveness of the team's HPD ARX-01d
within the constraints of the 2011 regulations. In the end, they found the pace, but not the reliability.
